Terms of Service
Last updated 10 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and us when you use Shelf Space. By creating an account you accept them.
Who we are
Shelf Space is operated by Sonic Studio Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (number 15877834), registered office 37a Ventnor Villas, Hove, BN3 3DA. VAT number GB 475 1243 94. You can reach us at jake@sonicstudio.uk.
What Shelf Space does
Shelf Space helps an independent brand find businesses that might stock its products. It discovers candidate businesses, researches how well they suit your brand, finds published contact details where it can, and prepares introduction emails for you to review. If you connect a mailbox, it sends the messages you have approved. Replies arrive in your own Gmail.
Shelf Space is a tool, not an agency. It does not send anything you have not approved, unless you switch on automatic sending, and it does not guarantee that anyone will reply, order, or stock your products.
Your account
- You must be 18 or over, using Shelf Space for a business, and based in the UK or the US.
- You sign in with a Google account. Keep it secure. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you.
- One workspace belongs to one account. Do not share your sign-in with people outside your business.
- The information you give us about your brand must be accurate. Introductions built on inaccurate claims are your responsibility.
You are the sender
This is the most important term here. Emails prepared in Shelf Space are sent from your own mailbox, in your name. You are the sender in law, and you are responsible for what goes out. That means:
- You must read each message before approving it. If you switch on automatic sending, you approve in advance every email it sends, and you are responsible for each one as if you had sent it yourself.
- You must comply with the law that applies to your marketing, including the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, and equivalent rules in the countries you are contacting, for example the CAN-SPAM Act in the United States.
- You must honour opt-out and do-not-contact requests promptly. Shelf Space gives you a suppression list for this; add anyone who asks.
- You must not use Shelf Space to send bulk unsolicited email to consumers, to contact people whose details you obtained from a purchased list, or to send anything misleading, offensive or unlawful.
If you use Shelf Space in breach of this section we may suspend or close your account without refund.
Checking who you can email
In the UK you may send a relevant introduction email to a limited company, a public limited company or a limited liability partnership without asking first, as long as you give them an easy way to opt out. Sole traders and most other partnerships count as individuals in law, so they must agree to hear from you before you email them.
- For UK businesses, Shelf Space looks the business up on Companies House and tells you whether it found a matching limited company. This check is a guide, not legal advice. Public records can be incomplete or out of date, and a business can trade under a different name from its company.
- Where Shelf Space cannot confirm a limited company, it will not send until you tick the box confirming you have checked it is OK to contact that business by email. You might do this by finding the company yourself, or by asking the business first, for example in person, by phone or by a social media message.
- By ticking that box you confirm that what it says is true. We record when you ticked it. From that point, the decision to email that business is yours alone, and so is the responsibility for it.
- In the United States you may email a business without asking first, as long as every email includes your postal address and an easy way to opt out. Shelf Space adds both to emails to US businesses, using the postal address you give in your email settings, and will not send to a US business, or any business it cannot place in the UK, until you have given one.
- Shelf Space searches the UK and the US, and only sends to businesses in those two countries. It will not send to a business it finds is elsewhere.
You agree to cover any fines, claims, losses and reasonable costs we face because of an email you approved or sent in breach of these terms or of the law.
Personal information about the people you contact
Shelf Space finds work contact details that businesses publish themselves, such as a buyer’s name and email address. We are responsible for finding and researching them. You are separately responsible for the emails you choose to send and for answering anyone who asks about an email you sent them, for example a request to stop or to see what you hold. Introductions to a named person at a UK business include a link to a page explaining where their address came from and how to object. Our privacy policy explains how we handle this information.
AI-generated research and drafts
Fit scores, research summaries, contact suggestions and draft emails are produced by an AI model working from public sources. They are frequently useful and sometimes wrong. Contact details can be out of date, a business can be misdescribed, and a draft can contain a claim you would not make yourself.
You must check anything that matters before you rely on it or send it. We do not warrant that the research is accurate, complete or current, and you accept that reviewing it is your job, not ours.
Plans, allowances and payment
- Current plans, prices and monthly research allowances are shown on our pricing page. Prices are exclusive of VAT, which is added where it applies.
- Subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or annually, and renew automatically until cancelled.
- When we offer a free first month, a card is needed to start it, and your plan starts automatically when the 30 days end unless you cancel before then. Stripe emails you a reminder a week before. The free month is once per business: if the card you use has already had one, your plan starts, and is charged, straight away.
- Your research allowance refreshes each month and does not roll over.
- If a payment fails we may suspend access until it is settled.
- We may change our prices. If we do, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email, and the change will take effect at your next renewal. You can cancel before then.
Cancellations and refunds are covered in our refunds and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.
Third-party services
Shelf Space relies on other services, such as Google, Cloudflare and Stripe. If one of them changes, restricts or withdraws its service, parts of Shelf Space may stop working. We will tell you if that happens and do what we reasonably can, but we are not liable for their acts or omissions. Your use of Gmail also remains subject to Google’s own terms.
Shelf Space uses Google Maps features and content to find businesses. Your use of them is subject to the Google Maps Additional Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your content
Your brand profile, photographs and drafts remain yours. You give us permission to store and process them only so far as we need to in order to run the service for you. You confirm you have the right to use any images you upload.
Availability
We aim to keep Shelf Space available but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may take it down for maintenance, and we may change or remove features. If we make a change that materially reduces what you are paying for, you may cancel and we will refund the unused part of your current period.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, we are not liable for lost profits, lost business, lost opportunities, lost or damaged reputation, or for any loss arising from an email you approved and sent. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount you paid us in that period.
Shelf Space is supplied for business use, so the consumer protections that would apply to a private individual do not apply to this agreement.
Ending the agreement
You can cancel at any time. See the refunds and cancellation policy. We may suspend or close your account if you break these terms, if your payment fails and stays unpaid, or if we are required to by law. If we close your account without cause, we will refund the unused part of your current period.
Cancelling your plan does not delete your workspace. To close your account completely, use Settings → Close your account, which deletes it straight away, or email us and we will do it within 30 days. If you would like a copy of your data first, ask and we will send it to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will email you at least 30 days beforehand. Continuing to use Shelf Space after that means you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
General
These terms, with the policies they refer to, are the whole agreement between us about Shelf Space. If a court finds part of them unenforceable, the rest still applies. You may not transfer this agreement to someone else without our agreement; we may transfer it to a business that takes over Shelf Space, and we will tell you if we do. Neither of us is responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
